Top Destinations - Honey Moon in Asia

Image
Treasures of architecture and spirituality, smiles by the thousands, fragrant cuisines, modern and creative cities, bike rides in the rice fields, walks in the colonial past, refined hotels, unsuspected beaches ... I lived six years in Asia, so let me share some beautiful destinations for a honeymoon. 1 Myanmar Pagodas and Beaches Undoubtedly one of the most haunting places in Southeast Asia, Myanmar is increasingly revealing its secrets. From the golden roofs of Sagaing to the thousand-year-old pagodas of Pagan, of the beautiful Rangoon, floating between colonial past and youthful impulse to discover Inle Lake by canoe ... The journey invites serenity at each stage, until its final: a few days by the sea before returning to the capital. Contemplation and sweetness of life, one-to-one. Say YES: to the beauty of sites like Pagan, classified by Unesco, to the splendor of Inle Lake and the deserted beaches of the Bay of Bengal in Ngapali. Little luxuries: Private dinner in front of the te

Thoughts of the day - The US

Image
I actually figured out that my bucket list is missing some spots in the USA. Maybe I've been influenced by the political news... But I shouldn't strikethrough a whole country, and I've already been to Washington. Savannah and Charleston were really great, I didn't spend enough time in Charleston though, nor around Georgia and South Carolina. Miami, loved it, I even picked up running while being on South Beach. Such a great vibe. I'd love to go again and spend more time in the latin district. The Florida Keys : absolute crush, beautiful road trip, stunning dives (even if it was my first non-guided experience), decadent key lime pie. I love how unique the architecture of Key West is. California : Big Sur, Carmel, Monterrey - loved it ! This road trip on the Pacific Highway 1 is a must. Santa Barbara : the weather was not so great, and despite our stay in the Belmond we didn't;t enjoy it as much as we should have. I regret only staying 1 night in Carmel, too short.

My Bucket List

Image
I've been to a lot of places already, but here is what I still dream about : - A stay in one of the Mozambique Islands. Anantara opened incredible hotels on dreamy atolls - A road trip in the vine region around Cape Town - A safari in Namibia or Botswana. Not a big fan of safari on the principle but I am intrigued by how the 2 country seem to have developed a more sustainable way to enjoy their nature - Go again to Marrakech, out of ramadan. It was too quiet - Some of the natural reserve in the north of  Brasil - Relax in Mauritius - Make my better half discover Tel Aviv and Jerusalem - Re-plan a romantic trip in Budapest, that got cancelled du to  Cover - Re-plan Comporta, Portugal, Toleo in Spain - Visit St Peterbourg, and the Ermitage museum - Discover more of Scotland, I'd love to stay in a castle by a lake - Go beyond Stockholm in Sweden. I really loved the south side covered in snow, the light was fabulous - Dive in Andaman island in India - Chill in Goa. I've been 2

Istanbul, Turkey

Image
I just came back from Istanbul, Turkey. And now must self-isolate for 2 weeks. Hopefully Ocado delivers... I spent 5 days under the sun, and coming back to a rainy London is quite depressing. But hopefully in 3 weeks I'll pack again. I spent 5 days in the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul. It was honestly some sort of a dream of a lifetime. The pictures of the hotel show this incredible Barocco palace, floating on the shore of the Bosphorus, with its lacy facade. What the pictures don't tell you is that you don't sleep in the palace, you sleep in a modern late 80's building next to it. I was disappointed at first, but then realised that actually my room had a prime view over the palace, and that's probably better than being in the old building where you would see the new building ... The room service left twice some sweet things on the table in my room. There was a Nespresso machine as well. I can confess I thoroughly enjoyed a coffee and biscuit break on the terrace, watc
